Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 100 gr sugar

  • 170 gr molasses

  • 1-1/2 tsp ground ginger

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • one tsp ground allspice

  • 1 tsp ground cloves

  • 2 tsp baking soda

  • 113 gr margarine (1 stick)

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 384 gr all-purpose flour

Instructions for Gingerbread Cookies Recipes:

      1. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, molasses, ginger, cinnamon, allspice and cloves. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat stirring occasionally.

      1. Once it comes to a boil, remove from heat and whisk in baking soda. Mixture will foam up.

      1. Add in margarine and stir until melted.

      1. Whisk in egg and finally mix in flour.

      1. Put onto a floured surface and knead until mixture becomes workable and smooth (about 1 minute).

      1. Divide dough in half and roll out on aluminium foil to just under 50 millimeters thick.

      1. Cut your cookies in any shape or size you desire.

      1. Remove excess dough from around cookies and bake in a preheated 162 degrees Celsius oven for 10-12 minutes.

      1. Let cool for a few minutes on the foil and remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prep time: 30 min

Total time: 1h 10 min

Notes for Gingerbread Cookies Recipes:

  1. If you want to use your cookies fresh, just arrange them on a platter in your kitchen or living room and enjoy for up to 5 days. Although they would probably last less than 1 day…

  2. If you wish to save your cookies for later, just put them in a sealed container and save them for later. They will last like this for up to 1 month.

Tip: You can also use some royal icing to decorate your cookies if you desire!
